Ever since the Sacred Body of our Crucified Savior was reverently laid in the tomb, there to await the hour of its glorious Resurrection, the Church has been most solicitous to surround the burial of those who hope to rise with Christ with an atmosphere of deep Christian faith and profound reverence.
As the last resting place of the members of the family of God, the Church solemnly blesses her Cemeteries and consecrates them to the service of God and His people. This concern for the burial places of her children is an outgrowth of the deep respect and reverence she holds for the human body which is the dwelling place of the soul during man and woman’s life on earth and shares in his life in eternity.
To ensure the sacred character of the cemeteries operated by New Orleans Catholic Cemeteries, a ministry of the Archdiocese of New Orleans, and in accord with the mind and traditional practice of the Church and to establish and maintain good order, the following Rules and Regulations are in effect.
